My name is Michael D. Tenorio (Tsuu Quiiwiish), and I proudly represent San Felipe Pueblo, New Mexico. As a self-taught Native American painter, I infuse my artwork with the rich essence of my native culture, a deep love for Mother Nature, and elements of contemporary art, all brought to life with vibrant acrylics on canvas. Over time, I have embraced numerous opportunities to positively impact my community, from designing logos for various departments to serving as an art instructor for local youth. In this role, I focus on teaching our heritage through the lens of art, empowering the next generation to connect with our traditions. I am actively involved in notable art festivals throughout New Mexico, including the Indian Market, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, and Pueblo Feasts. Excitingly, in 2025, I will be showcasing my work at the prestigious Heard Museum. A significant milestone in my journey as a self-taught artist was when my artwork was chosen for the cover of the National Congress of American Indians’ publication, “Sovereignty in Action.” This honor fuels my passion and commitment to my craft. I genuinely welcome feedback from admirers and collectors, as it motivates me to create even more captivating pieces for the world to appreciate. My aspiration is to ensure that my artwork resonates and remains influential for generations to come.
